About Dawn Senior-Trask
I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers. My artwork consists of all these things and more...

Many thanks to all of you for your kind comments! Christiane, though my family did live near Canyon de Chelly when I was a kid, we also traveled around the reservation visiting many friends in different remote and beautiful locations. I loved helping our friends herd their sheep, grind corn, round up horses, or any other work they had going on at the time. Thank you for your interest!

The perspective is amazing, and so is the poem - especially for age 12. You remain amazing to me. I love the corn rows, so symbolic of their ability to grow anything in the desert. The sheep sustain them. You were and are witness to these people and a way of life.
