We can preserve memory in visual art. This memory may be atrocious, utterly revolting. It could be a flagrant human injustice. Slaves were brought from Africa to America and the Caribbean Islands. Slaves were property of the slave owner. Slaves ran away for many different reasons; mostly for mistreatments. Haitian slaves ran away because they rebelled against slavery.
