The Frisco pier in Frisco on the Outer Banks of North Carolina at sunrise after it was torn apapt by a tropical storm; available in traditional fine art and in surreal effects versions as well as a fun composite with a large bird nesting on the end of the pier; 6499-6501
The reason this picture is titled "Broken Dreams" is because this old pier had been damaged and repaired many times through the years. A while back it was damaged and closed by a tropical storm, but not this bad. The owner wanted to repair it, but needed financial help. He was in the process of securing funds and was hopeful the Park Service would contribute some of the needed money. But before his dream of reopening the pier could be realized, another tropical storm swept over the Outer Banks and completely ripped apart sections as you see here. The pier is probably no longer repairable - the cost would be too high. Whether another pier will ever be built here is unknown. I am sure the owner's heart wa...
