Description
The Paint Mines Interpretive Park is located just northeast of Calhan, Colorado in El Paso County. This is just one view of the maze that is the Painted Mines. You can walk within this incredible canyon and around every corner is a new scene that is incredible. The cool thing is that you would never know this is here because this chasm is hidden in the middle of a prairie field. American Indians would often use clay from this area, and ranchers would scrape off buckets of from this area to paint their houses. I had to add the mountain lion since it seemed appropriate in this area. Enjoy!!!

After visiting the Grand Canyon this week this if your painting gs struck a cord in me. This canyon is hidden and the other very public .standing on the rim without a fence in the early morning I wondered what it would have been to see thisGrand canyon in the beginning . It still was special with snow covered areas and low hanging clouds and vibrant colors . I did see mountain lion tracks too .Those hidden canyons are amazing . Thanks Mike for creating another jewel.
