Maquettes are working models. In my process I first make drawings, then a maquette. This allows me to work out the shifts and balances of the sculpture before getting involved in the fabrication.

About John Neumann
Born in Frankfurt Germany 1952. Immigrated to United States in 1957 Neumann majored in fine art at the University of Albuquerque, NM 1970-1974. Studied at Scuolo Politecnica de Desegno de Milano 1974 -1975. Upon returning to the states, served an apprenticeship with sculptor Albert Wein from 1975-1976, working with him on the Libby Dam project. In 1977-1978 served as an assistant to New York sculptor Roy Gussow. He has worked directly with a number of artists fabricating their sculpture including - Marjorie Strider, Leslie Dor, Robert Goodnough, Del Geist, Clement Meadmore and Elbert Weinberg. Neumann began exhibiting in the early seventies, and has shown his work in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Mexico,...
