... A lone bench sits
facing the lake
under a forest of trees...
This beautiful image was captured
on the edge of the high
mountain lake in the
Chilhowee Recreation Area,
part of the Cherokee National
Forest of Tennessee.
The pretty lake is surrounded
by lush trees and a circular trail.
A lovely hiking trail
leads over to the Benton Waterfall,
deep in the Smoky
Appalachian Mountains.
The lake water is clear and cool
and families swim here
in the summer months
and early autumn.
The campground is close by
where campers enjoy
the trails and lake,
canoeing, hiking,
and swimming...
