Betsy has a deep love for the visual arts, especially photography which includes conceptual interpretation of the image. Images can have many meanings which mesh emotional association and visual impact. She is naturally drawn to coastal scenes, as her once-a-year visits to Topsail Island, North Carolina began when her family found Topsail Island as a vacation paradise when she was two-years-old; and ever since, she has been visiting the island regularly for 39 years. It was in 1996 that she drove down to Topsail after Hurricane Bertha and took some photographs of the devastation that she began taking photography seriously, from a documentation perspective.
