Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

It was a peaceful quiet, albeit foggy, day when I visited Owl's Head Light near Rockland, Maine, USA. But this lighthouse is number one on Coastal Living magazine's most haunted lighthouse list! If I had known that at the time, I would have hung around till dark to see what happened! There are said to be at least two ghosts at the lighthouse. One is know as the "Little Lady" and is most frequently found in the kitchen or looking out a window of the keeper's house. The other is though to be a keeper from beyond the grave. This lighthouse was approved in 1824 by John Quincy Adams and was built for $2707.79. The lighthouse is high up on a headland entrance to Rockland Harbor so that even though the tower is only 26' tall, the light could be seen for 16 miles. On the grounds is the gravestone of Spot, the famous lighthouse lifesaving dog. I found his story on one website: "A famous lifesaving resident of the station was Spot, a springer spaniel owned by Augustus (Gus) B. Hamor (keeper 1930...
Protected with PIXSY About Joan Carroll: I am a Fort Worth Texas-based outdoor photographer who feels at home while on the road...in Texas, in the US, around the world. Although travel and photography were dual interests from a young age, the coming of the digital camera provided undreamed of opportunities and unleashed previously untapped creativity. My photographic goal is to travel the world in a curious yet respectful way, taking the time to see and understand the unique story of each place I visit. Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
