I took a popular piece of fabric of Geisha women, used a color reduction method to remove most of the original colors, and re-painted it in soft rainbow colors. There are also some golden carp and if you look very closely at the background you will see golden mushrooms and maps of Africa.
I have been quilting for close to twenty years now and I still find this to be a completely engaging art form: I still feel that there is so much to experiment with and to perfect, and so many unborn quilts to bring into the world !
In my art, I cherish two main goals. One it making a beautiful quilt with glorious and harmonious colors. My second goal is to create a space of joy and serenity; when people look at one of my quilts my hope is that they will feel peaceful and light of heart. For this reason, I am especially drawn to creating what I call healing art - quilts that will go to live in a hospital or medical office or other healing setting.
