Passing In Nantucket Sound c.1895 by Rex Stewart

This exquisite drawing reflects Cape Cod's late 19th century heydey of American steamboating. Viewing head-on from NANTUCKET's stern, the steamboat is shown in a port to port passing with the distant steamboat MARTHA'S VINEYARD as she heads for Massachusetts Mainland in the 1890s. Many original steamboat models of both NANTUCKET and MARTHA'S VINEYARD were built at my studio over a thirty year period. Both replicas were used to establish this historic rendition and make for a nice accent piece for those existing models.
