Artist's Description

Twr Mawr Lighthouse, Llanddwyn Island, North Wales, UK ..... The Llanddwyn Island Lighthouse marks the western entrance to the Menai Strait. ..... The 1873 tower is tapered in a way characteristic of Anglesey windmills, it is 33 feet high and 18 feet in diameter. It may have been constructed by an Anglesey stone mason, and it is possible that the tower itself was originally used as a windmill. The north-east door is flanked by small windows, and the two floors above also have small windows, but the top does not. The conical roof is slated and has a flag pole. The present lantern window is about 6 feet 6 inches by 2 feet. The optic, silver plated reflector and Fresnel lens were used into the 1970s and are dated 1861. The lantern was originally lit by six Argand lamps with reflectors. ..... Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llanddwyn_Island_Lighthouse ..... About Dave Bowman

Dave Bowman

As a photographer I like to be on the move, physically and technically, trying out new approaches and discovering new paths. I believe artists should continually challenge themselves and experiment in order to progress creatively and to keep ideas fresh and vital. My primary aim is to capture the essential quality of the experience before me at the very moment the shutter closes. I then allow the subject to dictate the precise levels of tone or colour required for the final image. These decisions are key to my creative process and something I find continually challenging and inspiring. Dave Bowman Photography
