Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Artist's Description

Paul J. Crutzen (born 1933), Dutch chemist. Crutzen is Professor of chemistry at Max-Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany. In 1995 he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry along with Mario Molina and F. Sherwood Rowland for their work on atmospheric chemistry, particularly the formation and decomposition of ozone. Crutzen began his career as a civil engineer but moved to the Meteorology Department of Stockholm University as a computer programmer in 1959. During his time there he studied various subjects before finally embarking on research into stratospheric ozone. In the 1970's he published papers describing how nitrogen oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) react catalytically with ozone accelerating the rate of reduction of ozone content.
