On the 50th day after Passover, the promised Holy Spirit descended on the early church, filling them with powerful speech, powerful witness, and powerful love. My visual interpretation of the event includes the elements of flames and the third part of the Nicene Creed. But note that the Creed is being obliterated by the fires. God's Holy Spirit is not confined to our theological formulations, but works when and where it pleases. Thank God! by sheer grace we can be included in this work.
Chuck Mountain brings a wide range of interests and experiences to his artwork. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chuck earned his BA and MA degrees in applied violin at the University of California, Northridge. Throughout the Los Angeles area he performed and taught, composed and conducted music in the community.
He then went on to earn his MDiv at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and to serve two parishes in South Dakota. During this time he authored four published books and served the musical community in South Dakota by performing as a violinist and producing a radio show, Bach in Context, for South Dakota Public Radio.
