This embroidered Peony flower is part of a series of stitched sketches I am creating based on my drawings of flowers from my garden. The original embroidered piece is approximately 9x12 inches and mounted on white canvas.
Kelly Darke (1973 - ), American artist born in Michigan, the middle of five children, began creating artwork as a young child. Darke attended Grosse Pointe South high school where she developed a love for black and white analog photography and painting. Upon graduation in 1991, she moved to New York City to attend Parsons School of Design where she completed the first year core classes before deciding to move back to Michigan and attend Wayne State University where she graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts with concentrations in painting and metals.
