This piece was created for Massachusetts General Hospital for this year's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They are hosting a fundraising walk in October and they wanted to have a give-away for all of the walkers that day. They decided they wanted to use my artwork on notecards. I am very honored to have my work chosen for this worthwhile cause as my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, beat it and then had to fight it again 5 years ago. She beat it again and is a survivor!!!
My work has evolved as a result of my graphic design training combined with my love of painting and drawing. As a child, I always enjoyed artwork and was in constant need of art supplies. I studied classical painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There I began a love affair with oil paints. I love the smell and the way they move around the canvas. I also work in pencil, pastels and acrylics.
My life took a dramatic change when I fell in love, married and immediately began raising a family. I always dreamed of returning to art school and finishing my degree. That dream became a reality when my children entered school. I began studying fine arts at Parsons School of Design in New York City. I changed my course...
