A January thaw brought melting snow and warm air aloft , causing a cloud inversion so I headed to the Mt. Washington to shoot the sunrise, hoping the city would be shrouded in fog. The fog did not make it into town for sunrise, but it can be seen in the distance creeping down the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. The sky, however, did not disappoint as vibrant colors crept across the sky for a moment.

If you feel as though, for a few moments, you can travel vicariously t the American Southwest through my images, then my goal will have been accomplished. The photos are the product of countless hours of planning, approximately 15,000 miles of and approximately six weeks of travel over the span of three years. As long as I can remember, I have dreamed of traveling to the Rocky Mountains. Early in my adulthood, I visited a traveling exhibit at the Knoxville Museum of Art, in Knoxville, TN entitled, "American Grandeur." The pieces of the exhibit that drew me in were by painters Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt.
