This is based on a medical plate depicting details of structure of components of nerve tissue. I thought that the synapse details looked like a sea flower so I manipulated the plate drawing more and alluding to a sea bed. I called it Poiesis because it has taken almost 18 months to recover feeling in my chest and leg after the medical procedures I have had.
Kyle Ethan Fischer received his BFA in Painting from The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme Connecticut where he was classically trained. He studied the figure under Deane Keller and anatomist Dr. Wayne Southwick at Yale medical school, learned methods and materials from Steve Sheehan, director of the Ralph Meyer Center at Yale, and painting under David Dewey student of Hans Hoffman. After pursuing painting he received a stipend and scholarship to study abroad at the National College of Art, Dublin in Ireland concentrating on sculpture and installation and developing an understanding of the “sensation” ideology in the UK; influenced by artists Dorothy Cross and Damien Hirst.
