Artist's Description
3D Nude Sculpture of a Pregnant Woman Making Love(or having sex, to be more bold). Made with Suclptamold & Acrylics on a 9\" X 12\" Wood Panel by Alison Galvan.
For this piece I was inspired by the images society holds of women in the grips of motherhood. I wanted to create a piece that shows women as the sensual, sexual, desirable being that they are during pregnancy.
About Alison Galvan
Biography Interviewed by a local newspaper, a collector gives his impressions of Artist Alison Galvan and her work: “She laughs. Heartily, and often. It’s no wonder, the art she conceives is meant to elicit a smile.....That’s the crux of who she is and her art, to make people laugh, to be uplifting.” Born in Vancouver, BC, Canada Alison was always somewhat of a rebel (often with a cause, but more often than not, without one!). Thank You Kevin. I actually made this piece to submit to a competition that's theme was on Motherhood. It didn't get chosen, but regardless I still think it is one of my stonger works. Usually my characters are more comical in nature, so this was a challenge to create something that was neither funny nor raunchy, but instead depicts a woman at what I think is one of the moments in a woman's life when she is most beautiful.
