About the Image

Progressing The Dream by Micheal Mason

This art work was done by my brother. The piece tells a story. The two other men are Megar Evers (freedom fighter who was asasinated) and the other man is Marcus Garvey who believed, at the time, that black people in America should go back to Africa (he even chartered a ocean liner for this). So the moral is each man is hoping or dreaming of freedom in different manifestations and the first 3 men from the right are looking out for some hope of freedom and MLK is looking up to Obama to progress his dream of freedom and equality, and Obama is looking out to the Capital which represents his US Presidency, the highest form of freedom and equality that a Black Man could ever hope for in America.
