Artist's Description
The old Pueblo Hotel and Apartments sign has since been renovated. In place of the rust and peeling paint it now sports a brand new look complete with a life like diver in a bikini and new neon. The hotel itself is located at 145 S. 6th Ave. in Tucson, AZ. Originally it was the Willard Hotel designed by Henry C. Trost in the Mission Revival style. It is now an office building.
About Katrina West
When I was young I spent a lot of time exploring the woods and countryside near my home in rural Indiana. This innate love of nature was fostered by my father and grandmother and they encouraged me as I began to draw the subjects I found there. This eventually led to plein air painting in a variety of media as I sought out the pastoral in my efforts to connect with the land. Portraiture is also a subject I hold dear and I never fail to find inspiration in the human face. I love to watch people and the effects of light and life I see on their faces.
