The race face of a competitor in the inaugural off-road mountain bike race in Grand Junction, Colorado, shows his determination to challenge the course and win the event. This image was captured during the last event of the weekend, a forty mile mountain trail race that started and finished in downtown Grand Junction. Less than ten miles of this race was on pavement the rest was on mountain terrain. Over two hundred amateur and professional racers of various ages, abilities, competed in this three day event. The professional purse was $20,000, split evenly between the male and female professional competitors.
