When I first arrived in Segovia at the Plaza de la Artilleria I looked first at the Aqueduct (how can you not?) but then up at the colorful houses on the hillside along the Calle de San Juan. Put the two beautiful sights together and this is the view you get! This was a very rainy afternoon so I was juggling my umbrella with one arm while trying to take some photos with the other. Segovia is such a visual treat. In 1985 the old city of Segovia and its Aqueduct were declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Within the environment of the old city stands a diversity of historic buildings both civil and religious, The Aqueduct of Segovia, located in the emblematic Plaza del Azoguejo, is the staple of the city.
