Beautifully expressed rendition of the Shrine of the Bab. The frame and matting showcase the print. We have it prominently on our living room wall with other sacred pictures.

I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.
Artist's Description
This I did with cloth, watercolor paper, pieces of maps and quite a bit of FUN.
The faded silky cloth I found in a thrift store with remnants - various old pieces of cloth..
All I had to do was jazz it up a bit with color add some map scraps and Voila!

Thank you Megan and to the others who commented so graciously. I hope everyone can see the sections of maps in this collage. The title is a take-off on the expression "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche". It's kind of a stretch, but anyway, that's what made me think of the title. (BTW, Real men DO eat quiche. I can prove that by my man who happens to be a very good cook )
Megan Dirsa-DuBois
What a great title to this piece! :) This is wonderful. I love how clear and crisp the details are in the blue fish and the background coral. Very nice!
Kendall Kessler

Thanks so much Mark for your comment about my Real Fish Don't Need Maps fun collage. Also your remarks about the heinous way that people capture and kill the creatures from the oceans ...I TOTALLY AGREE. I wish that there was something I could do about it.
Mark Cawood
Fish is one of the healthiest foods there is, full of protein and with no ill side-effects which (apparently) some meats contain. Although I am not a vegetarian I believe animals quality of life should not be compromised throughout the process of manufacturing food. My pet hates include: Hunting for whales as I do not agree with the methods used. Dolpins getting caught in fishermen's tuna nets, and seals being beaten to death for their fur, I'll get off my soap box now. By the way this picture is fantastic, love the colors and depth of perspective achieved. Your description of the piece is delightful, its good to hear artists can have fun doing their work.
Rob Owen
Thank you for your comments Anne-Elizabeth. This Robert Owen was born in the foothills of west central Alberta, Canada. I like the patterned designs in your fish paintings etc. nice!
Yuri Yudaev

William Burgess
This is a wonderful piece, the colors and composition are incredible. The red stripes really bring the larger fish to front.

Thanks Regina and all the others who commented. I assembled this yesterday and it has opened up a whole new world to me of simple ways to do collages. Get the main subject, think of an interesting background and add a few bright colors and ButtaBing, you got yourself a collage. The title just came to me. I guess I was thinking of "real men don't need maps" or so they think. * Ha, ever aske Moses that, when he was lost in the desert? But that's a whole 'nother story. Even GPS's are often not used on cars that have them. Also I was thinking of the book title: "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche". This, by the way, in my fam. is not true. My husb, is a great cook and he is a big burly guy and WE eat quiche around here made from scratch, not the frozen kind.
Regina Coeli deWinter
Totally wonderful in every way...the humor in the title, the colors, the expressions on the 'faces' of the fish....and on and on...one of my favorites of yours, AE!
