A few months ago, a friend and I wandered around the Toledo Botanical Garden looking for things to shoot. One of the captured images from that day is located in a previous blog post. After we spent a few hours in the garden, we decided to call it a day and head back towards the car. During the walk, my friend had mentioned how he’d never been to Fort Meigs in Perrysburg, OH.

Fort Meigs is registered with the Ohio Historical Society and it stands as a memorial to a pivotal battle that occurred during the War of 1812. In short, a small British army supported by local Native American tribes made an attempt to capture the fort which had been recently constructed. The American garrison was being used to prepare for an offensive against the Detroit territory, which the British had captured. While the American forces suffered considerable loses, the British failed to capture the fort and were eventually forced to discontinue their siege.
