About the Image

Roseway On Boston Harbor by Jean Pacheco Ravinski

The Roseway, a father and son duo took to building the Roseway in Taunton, Mass in 1925. The ship, a fishing yacht once set a record for the most swordfish caught in one day, after catching 74 swordfish. The vessel was the last pilot schooner serving the United States when the ship was finally retired in 1973. While the Roseway summers mostly in Boston it spends its winters in warm St. Croix.

About the Artist - Jean Pacheco Ravinski

Jean Pacheco Ravinski

Growing up in Needham, Massachusetts I was influenced by the paintings and illustrations of N. C. Wyeth who lived in Needham and donated the paintings he used for books and magazines to the Needham Public Library. They have a great collection of his artwork there now. This is where I would go to immerse myself in his artwork and the artwork of all the book illustrators. Ludwig Bemelmans became another of my favorites and so I became a watercolorist and muralist at an early age. I spent my high school years taking Saturday classes at Mass College of Art in Boston and spent quite a bit of time in the art department at Needham High School where my art teacher, Bob Enos, helped me get my artist's portfolio ready for the juried acceptance...
