As the end of summer nears ranchers begin to prepare for the winter. Harvesting hay into large round bales makes for efficient storage of the much needed resource for the long winters along the continental divide in Colorado and Wyoming. I have long been fascinated with the process. I love the patterns in the fields left by the harvest and the not so glorious work of the rancher.
I chose to convert this image to a warm toned black and white because the scene puts me in a nostalgic frame of mind. It reminds me of the old west.
This image was shot just south of Saratoga, Wyoming. Saratoga is a small western town in eastern Wyoming on the western slope of the continental divide.
