We check into Room 32 at Hotel Abbatial St. Germaine. I throw open the French doors to the view. Directly across the street, these blood red geraniums, backed by shades of blue in peeling paint and tin, call my name.
Another window box is tended daily by a grey haired matron in the flowered housedress. Each morning she offers her sweethearts a drink while she plucks dried leaves and errant weeds - tossing them carelessly to the street below.
All week, I watch for the patron of the blue window blossoms, but to no avail. Perhaps they are tended deep in the night by the stars and watered before dawn by the morning dew.
