This rustic granite stone wall is much more typical of the west of Ireland. It is quite unusual to see this stone wall surviving at all in this rural location.This stone wall is situated in the south-east of Carlow county near the border of Wicklow.County borders in rural Ireland are always recognised by small hand built granite stone bridges, deviding the boundary lands where small streams and brooks flowed underneath them.These waterways flowed into larger rivers in this case the Dereen,which is a direct tributary to the main Slaney river. This river rises at the top of Lugnacoille mountain. The highest mountain in Wicklow and the province of Leinster.
