i painted a series of almost two dozen paintings at the worn, run-down cottage of Eliza in Woodside, Ca. This happened during the late 1970's and she had lived at this modest home since 1918 and threw very few things away. Those she kept were cared for. Along her small outdoor building she stacked any loose redwood boards on end off the wet ground and hung her tools. I had seen roller skates that needed a key to tighten the clamps to your shoe but never skates as old as these rusty ones she hung so carefully.
My impressionist oil paintings are created by layering contrasting hues to create depth and a complex rhythm of color, a process requiring many applications.
My creations run the gamut from serious studies to whimsical. While every canvas is a treasured friend, I always look forward to being in love with my next painting.
Danny Kaye, the actor-comedian said: "Life is a great big canvas; throw all the paint on it you can." I'm with you there, Danny. Stand back.
