This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

Bait Ball 3 Tilles 9800, 1/19/70, 10:10 PM, 8C, 7410x9778 (864+1801), 150%, SG Redfish Pol, 1/15 s, R76.8, G64This oil painting was inspired in 2009 when I was asked to do a mural of game fish and deep sea life. The mural never came about. Instead, I created this triptych which is 9 feet long. The painting illustrates the story of how a Sailfish splits the bait ball chasing Mahi Mahi and plunders its riches. Marlin, Dolphin, dolphin fish, sharks, seals and whales also share in the ocean's bounty. Having no first-hand experience with deep sea fishing, I researched from books, videos and the internet. Guy Harvey's wonderful illustrations and photography were a great resource..6, B78.2

Nancy Tilles is an award winning artist, well known for her paintings and portraits. Her paintings are joyful expressions brought to life through color and form. As a portrait artist, her focus is on the individual and her work reflects this bias, each painting a story about the subjects life. The style of her work can be called a form of painterly realism.
