Way back when I was living in Canada (Fredericton, NB), I was doing postdoctoral research in the Candian Arctic, near Rankin Inlet (2/3 up the west side of Hudson Bay). While doing our geologic mapping we would come across an abundance of wildlife. Here is a sandhill crane chick in its nest just on the ground. Unfortunately this chick didi not survive, as when we went past again a couple of days later it appeared that a fox had got at it.
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow). I am a self taught photographer, but am always learning. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico. Now I find the beauty around where I live in Madison.
