Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Scottish Highland cattle are the oldest registered breed of cattle with a Herd Book being published in 1885. They lived for centuries in the rugged remote Scottish Highlands. The extremely harsh conditions created a process of natural selection, where only the fittest and most adaptable animals survived to carry on the breed.
They have a long, close history of living with humans. Early Scots would keep the cows downstairs to provide warmth for the family on the second story and to make sure the neighbors didn't help themselves to the family's wealth. Regardless of where they are located today, Highland cattle can always trace their ancestry to Scotland.
Scotch Highland Cattle seem to enjoy harsh conditions in which many other breeds would perish. It is not unusual to see Highlands grazing a day or two after a winter storm with snow still melting off their backs. Their double coat of hair (long, coarse, outer layer and soft wooly inner layer) means that the...

Christine, great photo of this great looking animal. Fantastic detail in the Scottish Cattle's fur his eyes all covered with the dangling hair and the nose, great detail in the horns and nice job with darkening the background to make the Scottish Highlander stick out more. I took a photo of one of these animals at the Queen's Zoo and they are large and full of their thick fur. Great description enjoyed reading it, Excellent photo, voted, Favorite and FB promoted and my Lets All Participate Pick of the Day 3 thread
