About Amy Kranz
I have recently revived my personal journey into my artistic self. I have always been fascinated with the Old Masters. When I look at the paintings of Vermeer or Breugel, I feel transported into a different time and place. Having just finished a 2 1/2 year assignment in Belgium, I was inspired to re-invent myself creatively. I began at Laguna Gloria in Austin, TX. I moved onto working with a brilliant folk artist, Fran Patterson. But found myself constantly pulled in the direction of realism. I am currently working under the direction of Debra Richardson (dkrichardson). I am happy exploring the world of pastels at the moment. I am learning so much with each new piece.

She knew I took her photo but did not know I was going to paint her portrait. She is a Burmese refugee living in my city. The piece has been declined in two competitions, however.
