My mother remembers when this house was built. Her school bus passed by it every day on the way to school. I recently met the lady who grew up in it and she was very pleased to have a memento of her childhood home. This old abandoned homeplace is located in Roanoke County, Virginia.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors.
