From Shakespeare\'s, \"The Winter\'s Tale, Act IV - Scene III\":
\"Daffodils that come before the swallow dares and take the winds of March with beauty.\"
This is my own calligraphic script using a ruling pen. After creating the custom, somewhat abstract daffodil and brushstroke stencil, I then silkscreened the whole design onto a chartreuse paper. All in all, it took 8 passes of careful registration to create the original piece (3 1/2" x 5 3/4").
I am an artist in the Washington, DC metro area who renders calligraphy and illustration for personal commissions (family trees, resolutions, awards, poetry, anniversaries, Quaker wedding documents, etc.) .
I also photograph landscapes and capture digital images through scanography (mostly botanical). I find this helps me to hold on to the details of scenes and objects that can be so often overlooked in everyday observation. I'd like to think I take photos and scans as a blind man touches... tracing the contours and textures... feeling the light.
