The third installment of Kolongi Brathwaite's Freedom Series features the Sisters of the Struggle riding out on horseback, in the middle of the night, ready to fight for the freedom of their people. This African-American historical and motivational art print features the following African-American heroines: Sojourner Truth, Shirley Chisholm, Rosa Parks, Winnie Mandela, Susan L. Taylor, Harriet Tubman, Assata Shakur, Michelle Obama, Coretta Scott King, Zora Neale Hurston and Angela Davis.
Kolongi is a self-taught visual artist from Barbados. His core purpose of creating such heart throbbing paintings is to make a difference in the world. His motivation is to project positive images by capturing diverse subject matters such as family, cultural interests, politics, spirituality, social issues, and the Black experience. Kolongi’s artwork has been praised by his peers, celebrities, and other profound artists such as Oprah Winfrey and Sean Combs. His artwork has appeared in various international magazines such as Essence, Vibe, and many others, in addition to several galleries. Some of Kolongi’s most recognized works includes: Remember the Times, Hip Hop Culture, Freedom Riders, and Cradle of Love.
