Franklin Theatre opened in the summer of 1937. It survived over the next 70 years, but time eventually took its toll on the venerable movie house, and the doors closed in 2007 under the pressing of rising rents and the trend toward mega-theaters.
Enter the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County. Rather than lose the heart of Main Street, the nonprofit preservation group stepped in to buy and rehabilitate the historic landmark. My mother is an amazing artist in her own right & exhibited her work in Georgia & Tennessee during the 70's, 80's & producing a book of Rock City Barns in 2006. She dragged me & my three siblings off for a new adventure in the hot months of June & July. I am so grateful for those times as they have shaped who I am today.
