Commissioned illustration - one of a series for a NZ Forest Service publication "West Coast Forests". This was a very cool illustration to do. There is also a gold version at http://fineartamerica.com/featured/steam-legacy-gold-patricia-howitt.html

Unfortunately, when I hastily grabbed a photocopy of it before it went to NZFS, the only copier available gave me a grungy result... Those were the days!

Years later I scanned it in, played with it in Photoshop, and decided it didn't come out too badly, because the distressed look of the copy suits the subject. Black ink on Art Paper 5 x 7.5 in. Reference photo supplied by NZ Forest Service.
