Artist's Description
40 Guitar Sculptures, based on Johnny A's signature Gibson guitar were decorated by various Woodstock artists. These guitars were then place around the village on posts like parking meters in front of the local shops.
When I decided to put together this collage, I was not aware that they were part of a festival called The Woodstock Guitar Festival. On June 30, 2012, the sculptures were unveiled at one of the local galleries (Sweetheart Gallery) and then placed in and around town.
On August 25, they were then placed on auction as part of the festival event at the Bearsville Theater. The festival ended September 1, 2012 with a concert also at the Bearsville Theater, featuring local musicians.
At the time I had taken the pictures, I was not aware that there were a total of 40. Unfortunately, I had only seen and photographed 24 of them. Since these have been auctioned recently, there is no possibility to see and photograph the remaining pieces.

It was in 1980, while taking a class in High School, I fell in love with photography. Back then it was a simple 35mm Minolta SRT SCII Single Lens Reflex camera. It started out as an expensive hobby. For those who have not experienced the art of film, it certainly was a painstaking art form. What used to take hours and even days to manipulate an image in the darkroom, takes merely minutes with the advent of digital imaging. Add to this the fact that you would not be able to even see an image prior to processing and developing. Each image taken was carefully executed to minimize the amount of film used and time spent for processing, not to mention the costs of chemicals etc... What started as a hobby, eventually turned into a second...
