I was at the shore when I saw a white bird land in the mangrove. I looked down at my camera and sadly confirmed what I already knew, I had only a manual focus 50mm lens, since I had been using the previous day. Not the best choice for birding unless you're shooting a cooked chicken on your kitchen counter. I knew I had to get much closer to get anything worthwhile so started creeping forward in my best catlike manner. It turned out to be an Egret, and he was in the act of preening his feathers in the middle of a dark tangle of branches. There were so many leaves blocking the shot, I wanted to push some of them aside but I didn't dare so I held my breath and opened my aperture up a bit more to blur the leaves and sticks directly in front...

As a child I assisted my father, in astro-photography. Viewing and taking photos of the stars and planets taught me not only about photography but also about science and nurtured my curious mind.
I attended Manhattan's School of Visual Arts, where I was also immersed in the city's extensive culture as well as its historic and contemporary art scenes.
