My elderly next door neighbor, and friend, Sybil knew I collected antique and colored bottles to line the shelves in front of my bay window. She gave me this lovely purple bottle to add to my collection. It appears to have the talons of a bird of prey encircling the base. Every time I hold this bottle I think of Sybil - she was a wonderful neighbor and a good friend.
The still life includes a wood letter from an old printing press, as well as two of my favorite river rocks from my collection.
A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes,...
In my photographs, I seek to capture a moment, to give the viewer a glimpse of place and time that arrests the movement of life and allows each of us to savor what is there to be seen. I have a camera in my hands every day, and my favorite sound is the sweet click of the shutter as an image is caught.
I have photographs for sale at local galleries, including A Show of Hands in Alexandria, Virginia, and gallery209 in Cape Charles, Virginia. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy my work!
