Texas Trophies by J P Childress

This is a limited edition of 50 pieces of bronze artwork in the form of a pair of bookends for the discriminating reader. The two trophies from different areas of Texas are 1/4 scale replicas of two of the largest trophies taken in the state in the categories of Pronghorn Antelope and Non-typical Whitetail Deer. Both trophies went into the Boone & Crockett record books. The sculptures are mounted on solid mesquite bases with inlaid turquoise. (Book not included) Note that this set of bookends won the third place award in the 2012 Texas Society of Sculptors Association juried sculpture show at the L.A. Thompson Art Gallery in Clifton, Texas. Details may be seen at the www.lathompsonart.com website.

Years later, other teaching artists suggested that I change gears, saying paint what...
