The Astronaut's Book of Hours - The Space Shuttle by Tharsis Artworks

This painting is inspired by an illustration from a medieval �Book of Hours� prayer book known as the Tres Riches Heures (The Very Rich Hours). In my version, the arches enclose icons representing things which service the International Space Station - an astronaut in an EVA suit and a Progress supply ship, floating in space among gold stars. The ISS, backlit by the rays of the sun, is depicted in the center arch. Below, the medieval castle has been replaced by a Space Shuttle and service structure at the launch pad.
