The massive buildings house the memory of a grim chapter in Norwegian psychiatric history the authorities would rather forget. There is little available information about the former activities at Lier Hospital, but it is documented experiments that were carried out on this Norwegian mental hospital in the postwar period from 1945 to 1975. It�s about the use of LSD, electroshock, brain research funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and drug research sponsored by major pharmaceutical companies. It is perhaps not surprising that they try to forget this place...

Erik Brede

Surreal and Fine art work from the norwegian photographer and digital artist Erik Brede. Erik Brede is a self-taught photographer and Photoshop artist, born in 1971 in Svolvaer, Lofoten Islands, Norway. After getting his first camera at the age of 13, he spent much of his time in his father's darkroom, and post-production have always been an important part of his workflow. With a conceptual approach, Brede tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way to produce a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. These works focus on concrete questions that determine our existence. His landscape and surreal work has been influenced by such artists as Ansel Adams and Rene Magritte. His...
