About the Image

The Blue-green Forest by Derek Van Derven

This was the first realistic painting I had ever done as a painter. I did it at the age of 17 and it took me approximately a month to do, and I have to say, finishing it was HARD work. At each stage of my life, the symbol of the tree changes, and the meaning of me behind it changes. This work of art truly changes with time, and its meaning changes as I grow older, yet it does not age like I do.
