This is a drawing I did of my son when he was about 6 months old. I did this drawing because it is my favorite photo we have of him. He is being held by his Daddy. I also drew this picture because I want to spread awareness about his medical condition called Salt Wasting Cogenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (SWCAH). Basically, he urinates out all his salt. This will cause his sodium levels to drop and his potassium levels to rise. The other portion of his condition is due to his adrenal glands not working properly. Adrenal glands help push out the electrolytes your body needs to fight of any stresses your body may be under (i.e. illnesses, etc). His adrenal glands do not do that. He takes two medications daily in order to make up for his salt wasting and his adrenal glands not working properly. When he gets sick, we have to give him extra medication to help his body fight off the illness. Dehydration and illnesses could send him into adrenal crisis, which could be fatal.

I am a working mother of three beautiful boys. I have found time to do what I absolutely love to do, which is art. I use all different types of mediums. I use pencil, chalk pastels, acrylic paint, and oil paints. I find that completing a piece of art work to be very therapeutic and a sense of accomplishment. I enjoy every bit of it.
