February 2, 2009 - The high peaks of the Rocky Mountains covered with snow. The Rocky Mountains are a range that runs from Western Canada into the American West. In this image, you can see the portion of it that is in (clockwise from the top left) Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. There are also pockets of snow in Nevada, and among the canyons of Arizona.The Colorado River is fed by mountain snow in Colorado, shown in the center of the image. The river itself can be seen winding across the pink deserts of the southeast corner of Utah and into northern Arizona where it cut the Grand Canyon.
