About the Image

The House That Steinbrenner Wrecked Opening Day by Gregg Hinlicky

The House That George Steinbrenner Wrecked, Opening Day 2001. The old original Yankee Stadium was not all that beautiful on the outside in 2001, what with the terribly designed modernistic entrances that were tapped on in the 70s. Still, it was a living museum. A museum of real stone a brick. Though the new stadium has an attractive appearance in homage to the 1921 original, it's still only a facsimile. A facsimile of plastic. I created this painting as a celebration of the once great institution while suffering a moment of Spring Fever in late December/early January 2012.

About the Artist - Gregg Hinlicky

Gregg Hinlicky

With a life spent in art, Gregg Hinlicky's paintings and illustrations have appeared in exhibitions, in print on book covers & interiors, CD/album covers, magazine illustrations, billboards, murals, posters, postage stamps, greeting cards, package design, comic books, menus, on tv, in children's books and in many private collections. His extremely popular Brewer's Art Series, depicting beer makers in their element has been an ongoing passion of his that he returns to often, in hopes of accumulating enough paintings for a book and major exhibition. Gregg's one wish would be that he would be discovered by a considerate and generous patron, who would be willing to financially support him in his art projects and finally afford him that dream...
