After he scored the golden goal for Canada at the Olympics -- and now especially with his play in the ongoing National Hockey League Stanley Cup playoffs -- I have become a big fan of the Pittsburg Penguins star forward Sidney Crosby (being a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs means I haven't had a team in the playoffs for a bunch of years now). And decided to do a tribute painting to him and his Stanley Cup win of last year -- and his likely Cup win this year. I employed my recently learned palette knife skills in making the background in acrylics. And painted the figure and Cup in oils.
I was born in 1947 in the eastern Ontario, Canada town of Domville and my primary and secondary education was completed in the Bancroft, Ontario region. In 1967 I began studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto and graduated in 1971 from the Communications and Design course, with principal interest in painting and photography. Over the following decades, I worked at various advertising and promotion jobs, in the Toronto area, in full and part-time positions – most recently as a promotions manager in the Corporate Marketing Department of Bank of Montreal.
