About the Image

The Misty Mountains by Joe Gilronan

The Misty Mountains ( Old Friends ) In the distance Aragorn in the guise of Strider descends from the misty mountains. Gandalf and Bilbo clutching his treasured red book eagerly await news from far away lands. Rivendell gleams in the high passes above, while higher still Great Eagles (guardians of the misty realm ) soar surveying the comings and goings of the unlikely friends below. The painting is inspired by Bilbo's stay at Rivendell before the discovery that Frodo posseses the One Ring. The last homely house (Rivendell) was the obvious choice when creating the painting as a meeting ground for news to be shared.
